“No Fever in This House: Poor People and Public Health Provision in Northern England, 1880-1970” will be the topic of a presentation by Lucinda Beier from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 in the 3rd Floor East Lounge in the Bone Student Center. The event is free and open to the public and a free lunch will be served.
Beier is an associate professor in Illinois State’s Department of History and specializes in oral history and the history of medicine. She is the author of Sufferers and Healers: The Experience of Illness in Seventeenth-Century England (1987) and A Matter of Life and Death: Health, Illness and Medicine in McLean County (1996).
Beier’s presentation is a part of Illinois State University’s International Studies Seminar Series exploring topics in global politics and culture. The seminar series is organized by the Unit for International Linkages, Office of International Studies and Programs, and the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
