Lincolnland Brass Quintet to Perform Sept. 10 in Kemp

Date: 9/5/07

Contact: Marc Lebovitz

The Lincolnland Brass Quintet, part of the United States Air Force band of Mid-America, will present a free concert of traditional brass masterpieces, contemporary works, jazz, ragtime, marches and patriotic songs at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, in Kemp Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.  The concert is part of the School of Music Guest Artist Series.

Because the USAF Band of Mid-America is based at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, the brass quintet is named for President Abraham Lincoln.  The quintet performs more than 100 concerts a year and is included in ceremonies for military retirements, changes of command and other official military functions.

The Lincolnland Brass Quintet also performs at Air Force bases in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas in December to play holiday songs for military and civilian employees.
