Indiana U. Prof Speaks at ISU Philosophy Fall Colloquia Series

Indiana University’s David McCarty will present “Wittgenstein on Rule-Following and Other Fallacies” on Friday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m. in 100E Turner Hall as part of the Illinois State University Department of Philosophy’s Fall Colloquia Series.  The lecture is free and open to the public.

McCarty is a professor of philosophy and an adjunct professor of computer science at Indian University and a Fellow of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst.  He has received the Dio Lewis Holl Prize in mathematics and a Kierkegaard Fellowship in philosophy. McCarty has served as director of the Indiana University Logic Program and as president of the Indiana Philosophical Association.

McCarty conducts research on the foundations of mathematics and logic, early analytical philosophy and on the history of mathematics and logic, especially the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
