“Poverty, Children, and Hope in a Brazilian Slum” will be the subject of a presentation by Maria Schmeeckle on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 12-1 p.m. in the 3rd Floor East Lounge in the Bone Student Center. The event is free and open to the public and a free lunch will be served.
The presentation by Schmeekle, an associate professor in Illinois State University’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, is part of Illinois State’s International Studies Seminar Series exploring topics in global politics and culture. The seminar series is organized by the Unit for International Linkages, Office of International Studies and Programs, and the Women's and Gender Studies Program.
