Illinois State University will host alumna Nancy Slonneger Hancock ’86 for Alumni Day. Hancock will present “Philosophy for the Net Generation” on Friday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. in 209 Turner Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Hancock, who received her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, is an associate professor of philosophy and director of Women’s Studies at Northern Kentucky University. Her presentation will answer the question, “What does philosophy have to offer a generation of active learners who are visually oriented and expect immediate answers to requests for information?”
Hancock researches in the areas of ethics in higher education and environmental ethics. She is president of the American Association of Philosophy Teachers and a member of the Teaching Philosophy Board of Trustees. Hancock served as president of the Kent Philosophical Association and is currently the editor of “Logic Notes.”
