Eric Ruske was only 20 years old when he became associate principal horn of the Cleveland Orchestra in 1983.  Currently an associate professor at Boston University, Ruske will give a free horn masterclass at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall at Illinois State University.  It is open to the public.

Ruske is in Central Illinois to perform with the Peoria Symphony on Saturday, Oct. 27, and was invited to present the masterclass at Illinois State by Professor Joe Neisler of the School of Music.

A Chicago-area native who graduated from Northwestern University, Ruske also was a member of the Empire Brass, the faculty quintet-in-residence at Boston University.  He has soloed with the symphony orchestras in Cleveland, Baltimore, Indianapolis and Milwaukee Symphonies.
