Chad Johnson, assistant professor of Behavioral Ecology at Arizona State University West Campus and an Illinois State University 1998 master’s degree alumnus, will answer the age-old question “why can’t spiders just get along” as guest speaker at the Biological Sciences Alumni Seminar Series at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in room 214 of Moulton Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The actual title of Johnson’s talk is “The Behavior, Ecology and Evolution of Cannibalism (Sexual and Otherwise): Why Can’t Spiders Just Get Along.”   After completing his master’s degree at Illinois State, advised by Distinguished Professor Scott Sakaluk, Johnson completed his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky.  He then was a National Science Foundation International Post-doctoral Fellow for two years at the University of Toronto.

A pre-seminar coffee will take place at 3:30 in the Science Laboratory Building Atrium.
