Illinois State Hosts Wind Energy Conference in Peoria, Dec. 13

The Illinois State University-based Illinois Wind Working Group will host a conference on “Siting and Taxing Wind Farms in Illinois” on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Pere Marquette Hotel in Peoria.  The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The conference will cover all aspects of wind energy siting and taxation.  Sessions will focus on the duties of county boards and zoning boards regarding wind development and the taxation of wind farms.  One session will also deal with issues and solutions surrounding opposition to wind energy projects.

Conference speakers and moderators will include representatives from wind energy corporations, state and county governments, and state government agencies.  Government employees, county board members and zoning board members may register for the conference at no cost.  For all others, the registration fee is $35.  A complete list of conference topics and speakers along with registration information is available at www.wind.ilstu.edu    

The conference is hosted by Illinois State University through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and designed by the Illinois Wind Working Group, which consists of key wind energy stakeholders from the State of Illinois.
