Advancing Wind Power in Illinois Conference, June 25-26

Illinois State University will host the second annual Advancing Wind Power in Illinois conference on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 & 26 at the Interstate Center in Bloomington. 

The conference will bring together nationally recognized experts and local policymakers to discuss ways to encourage the growth of wind energy in Illinois. Conference sessions will cover policy recommendations, case studies, economic development, county zoning and siting regulations and other related topics. An optional tour of Horizon Energy’s Twin Groves Wind Farm is available for the evening of June 25.

The conference is open to the public and basic registration is $40 until June 6 and $50 thereafter.  Pre-conference seminars are an additional $15 and the wind farm tour is $25.  For conference registration information and a complete list of speakers, session topics and times visit www.wind.ilstu.edu

Speakers at this year’s conference will include Phil Dougherty, national co-director, Wind Powering America, Department of Energy; George Sterzinger, executive director, Renewable Energy Policy Project; Bill Poole, Natural Resources Consulting, Inc.; Joel Link, Invenergy LLC; Gary Nowakowski, U.S. Department of Energy; Christopher Merrett, Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs; and David Loomis, Illinois Wind Working Group

The “Advancing Wind Power in Illinois” Conference is hosted by Illinois State University through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and designed by the Illinois Wind Working Group which consists of key wind energy stakeholders from public and private sectors.
