Illinois State University’s Board of Trustees today approved the renovation of Watterson Dining Commons to accommodate campus users to the new food service concepts.
The project, which will not exceed a cost of $7 million, will include upgrading the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and lighting systems; replacing windows and the roof; and rehabilitating the exterior façade. The kitchen, serving and seating areas will be upgraded and reconfigured to increase efficiency and work flow. Construction will be done in phases so that portions of the dining center remain operational during the project.
When completed, Watterson Dining Commons will provide dining services for approximately 3,500 students.
The project will be funded through Bond Revenue Repair and Replacement Reserves.
