Illinois State University’s Board of Trustees today approved 2008-09 tuition, fees and room and board rates.

New undergraduate full-time students from Illinois will pay $256 per credit hour in tuition for the 2008-09 academic year, which includes a $9 per credit hour academic facilities, technology and infrastructure assessment, and will continue to pay this rate through summer of 2012.  Undergraduate Illinois full-time students who enrolled for the 2007-08 academic year will pay $233 per credit hour in tuition.

New out-of-state full-time undergraduate students will pay $468 per credit hour for the 2008-09 academic year.  Keeping the amount the same as last year’s tuition will contribute to the University’s priority to recruit more out-of-state students.

Illinois State University fees are included in the four-year guarantee, assuring students and parents that fee rates will not change from year to year.  The fees, excluding health insurance, for the 2008-09 academic year full-time new students will be $60.40 per credit hour, an increase of $3.49 from last year’s fees.

Residence hall rates depend on which area of campus students live and in what type of room (multiple occupancy, single or super single), with rates increasing by 11.2 percent from the 2007-08 academic year.  Students living in South Campus or Watterson Towers will pay $3,942 for a multiple occupancy room, $5,242 for a single, $6,032 for a super single, $5,322 for a multiple occupancy room in a suite and $6,740 for a super single in a suite.  Students living in West Campus or Hewett Hall will pay $4,342 for a multiple occupancy room, $5,642 for a single, $5,722 for a multiple occupancy room in a suite and $6,510 for a super single occupancy in a suite.

Meal plan rates are divided into residential plans, off-campus plans and door rates.  A residential plan that includes seven days of unlimited meals will cost $3,802 per year. An off-campus plan that includes seven meals per week will cost $1,818 per year and door rates are $5.50 for breakfast, $7.75 for lunch and $9.00 for dinner.
