Author and educator Nythamar “Nita” de Oliveira will present “Reflective Equilibrium and Life-World: Toward a Phenomenology of Justice” on Friday, April 4, in 209 Turner Hall as part of the Illinois State University Department of Philosophy and Philosophical Society Colloquia and Guest Speaker Series.
Brazilian native Oliveira will address the theories of justice in his presentation. He received his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and was a visiting scholar at the New School for Social Research. Oliveira received an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship to conduct research at the London School of Economics and at the Universitä Kassel. He is currently a visiting professor at the University of Toledo. The author of “Tractatus ethico-politicus,” “On the Genealogy of Modernity: Foucault’s Social Philosophy” and “Rawls,” Oliveria has taught at Pontifical Catholic University in Porto Alegre, Brazil, since 1999.
