Milner Library Annual Edible Book Festival, April 1

Date: 3/3/08

Contact: Eric Jome

What can you make with some sheets of seaweed, cake frosting, some creatively sliced vegetables and that head cheese that you bought during an impetuous moment at the deli counter?  An edible book, that’s what.

Illinois State University’s Milner Library will hold its third annual Edible Book Festival on Tuesday, April 1 (no fooling).  Members of the University and Bloomington-Normal communities are encouraged to put their creativity to the test and enter “books” made from food items.

All “books” must be made of edible ingredients, with a list of those ingredients accompanying the entry.  Entries should be dropped off at Milner Library’s Preservation Division (Room 162), located on the lower level, before 10 a.m. on April 1.  Those entering the Festival are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable food item for donation to a local food pantry.

Milner’s Edible Book Festival is sponsored by Milner’s Preservation Division.  For more information contact Sean Walton at (309) 438-3953 or spwalto@ilstu.edu

The International Edible Book Festival has taken place since 1999.  Examples of entrants can be viewed at www.books2eat.com  Photos from last year’s Edible Book Festival at Milner Library can be seen at http://tinyurl.com/2vfq5p
