Irene Ryan Regional Nominees to Perform Scenes Jan. 28

Irene Ryan Acting Competition regional winner Anne Thompson of Illinois State University’s School of Theatre will be among the students performing their Ryan competition scenes at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in Westhoff Theatre at Illinois State.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Thompson, a sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind., won the Region III Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival’s Ryan Acting Competition held in Milwaukee earlier this month.  She will advance to the national competition at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. this spring.  Also performing Jan. 28 and advancing to the national competition will be Thompson’s acting partner, sophomore Brynne Barnard of Glen Ellyn, who was named Best Partner of the regional festival. 

Illinois State had 15 students compete at the regional competition against hundreds of other college and university students from Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
