Two faculty members at Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University have received Nurse Educator Fellowship Awards from the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). Sandra Burke and Mary Dyck are two of only 15 nurse educators in Illinois to receive the fellowships.
The IBHE Nurse Educator Fellowship Awards are part of an effort to ensure the retention of well-qualified nursing faculty members at colleges and universities that offer nursing education programs. The fellowships, which run until June 30, include $10,000 to support faculty research.
As a Nurse Educator Fellow, Sandra Burke, BroMenn Endowed Clinical Assistant Professor, will continue her work on a novel methodology for teaching undergraduate nursing research. Mary Dyck, assistant professor, will complete research projects on infection treatments and weight loss prevention for older adults in nursing home settings.
