Sheryl Garrett, founder of the Garrett Planning Network, will speak to students, faculty and annuitants about the importance of proper financial planning on Wednesday, Feb. 20.  Garrett will give two presentations that afternoon in Room 369 in the College of Business Building.

From 3:30 to 4:20 p.m., Garrett will speak to students on topics related to financial planning and also share about her career transition from corporate employee to entrepreneur.  Faculty, staff and annuitants can hear Garrett speak about financial planning and retirement planning topics from 4:30 to 5:20 p.m. Both presentations are sponsored by the College of Business’ Financial Management Association.

Garret has been named by Investment Advisor magazine as “One of the Top 25 Most Influential People in Financial Planning” for several years running. She is the author of several books on financial planning and is a strong proponent of meeting the financial planning needs of the middle class by creating a network of fee-only financial planners. These planners charge clients by the hour, as opposed to typical financial planning models in which clients are assessed an annual fee based on assets, or charged commissions on product and securities sales.
