Lauren Saeger, a voice teacher and choral director in Illinois State University’s School of Music will present a faculty recital of jazz, pop and Broadway musical selections at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Kemp Recital Hall.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Saeger will be assisted by pianist Paul Borg of the Music faculty. Among her selections will be “I’m Not That Girl” from the musical “Wicked,” the song “Mein Herr” from the musical “Cabaret,” and “My New Philosophy” from the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The program will include “Even the Pain” by former Mr. Mister vocalist-songwriter Richard Page, the 1950s pop song “My One and Only Love” and Cole Porter’s classic “Love for Sale.”
Songs from the musical “The Apple Tree,” from the Disney movie “Peter Pan” and two songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim also will be performed..
Saeger is a graduate of Millikin University and has her master of music degree from Georgia State. Before joining the Illinois State Music faculty she was a member of The United States Field Band Soldiers' Chorus, the vocal complement of the United States Army Field Band of Washington, D.C. With the chorus, she traveled throughout the country and abroad as the chorus performed both as a separate component and in joint concerts with the Concert Band.
Saeger directs Encore! and Women's Choir, and teaches studio voice.
