Illinois State University police are investigating two additional reports of graffiti that were discovered in campus residence halls during the overnight hours. Non-specific messages related to the Northern Illinois University tragedy were reported in Colby and Barton Halls.
“Unfortunately, it is predictable that a few cowards will attempt to create a fearful atmosphere by writing these messages,” said President Al Bowman. “I expect there will be more, and we will continue to take every instance seriously. We hope that people will not add to the concern by spreading inaccurate and unsubstantiated rumors, and will reference University e-mails and Web site statements for accurate information.”
President Bowman today also informed students who were uncomfortable attending Friday classes that they can make up missed work at a later time following consultation with their professors.
