She began her tenure at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, in 1994 as a faculty member in the University’s Department of Teacher Education. She was promoted to full professor in 2004.
In 2000, Noren Everts was named assistant to the vice chancellor for Academic Affairs. She was promoted to assistant vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs in 2003 and to associate vice chancellor in 2004. In 2006, Noren Everts was appointed acting vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs before being named the division’s interim senior vice chancellor in June 2007.
“Dr. Everts has an outstanding combination of faculty and administrative experiences, and her record is an excellent match for our vision under Educating Illinois,” Bowman said. “Dr. Everts rose to the top of a highly competitive and selective search process that included broad participation from the campus community. I want to thank the search committee and chair Rick Boser for their exemplary work as well as everyone who participated in the search process.”
