Two student teams competed in the annual business plan competition held by The Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at Illinois State University on Dec. 7. The winning team, representing a proposed vinyl siding company, will advance to an international business plan competition held at Ball State University in the spring of 2008.
The two participating student teams were chosen from a slate of approximately twenty teams that had all created business plans during the previous year. The competition was judged by Bloomington-Normal area business leaders. The two participating teams were judged according to generally accepted criteria for quality business plans. Each participating team received a cash award and a plaque in recognition of their work.
The winning student team, representing the proposed siding business, Total Vinyl Protection, consisted of Jon Andrew, business administration and entrepreneurship and small business management, East Peoria; Maurice Douglas, entrepreneurship and small business management, Streamwood; Dylan Punke, entrepreneurship and small business management, Bloomington; Bryan Schoenecke, entrepreneurship and small business management, Bloomington; and Alex Yount, entrepreneurship and small business management, Oswego.
The second place student team, representing the proposed coffee and beverage company, Maui Wowi, consisted of Brittany Cederberg, marketing, Prospect Heights; Jon Jarosh, entrepreneurship and small business management and marketing, Bourbonnais; Dan Munsterman, entrepreneurship and small business management, Lombard; Matt Raddatz, business administration, Grayslake; Richie Whalen, entrepreneurship and small business management, Franklin.
