Almost direct from a concert performance in Bratislava, Slovakia, celebrating Women's History Month at the home of the American ambassador, Illinois State University faculty soprano Michelle Vought will showcase that concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.

Vought, an associate professor of Music who made a concert tour of Austria and Slovakia during her spring sabbatical, will be accompanied on piano by associate professor Carlyn Morenus, who accompanied Vought on the spring tour.  Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty-staff and $4 for students and senior citizens.  Children 6 and younger are admitted free.

The Aug. 28 program, "From Vienna Back to Normal," will consist of Viennese operetta, German and Hungarian art songs, American opera and operetta and American musical theatre.  The program in Slovakia in March was called "Star Spangled Songbird" and was held at the home of Ambassador Rodolphe "Skip" Vallee.  Tuesday’s program also will include Morenus’ performance of a piano selection by international composer Nancy Van de Vate.  Van de Vate, a world-renowned composer of opera and orchestra work and a past guest at Illinois State, also appeared at the Women's History Month event in Slovakia.
