Elizabeth Guth of Hudson is the 2007-2008 recipient of the John
Baldini Scholarship at Illinois State University. Guth, who is a nursing
major, will be honored at the annual McLean County Democratic Party
Fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 26, in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom.
The 5 p.m. dinner (preceded by a 4 p.m. social hour) will feature guest speaker Dr. Bill Roy, a Bloomington native who attended school in Lexington and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1945. Roy, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing Kansas from 1971 to 1975, is a retired physician and attorney. Currently he is a newspaper columnist for the Topeka Capital Journal.
Tickets to the dinner are $25 per person ($20 for students). Tickets can be reserved by calling 827-3934. Guth will attend the dinner to be publicly recognized and presented with a certificate and the $1,500 scholarship.
The scholarship was established by the family, friends and both political parties to honor the late John Baldini for his leadership and years of service to the McLean County community.
