Illinois State University student John Nardulli of Roselle is the 2008 recipient of the Peter V. Vitucci Memorial Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship was created by family and friends of Peter V. Vitucci, a 1991 Criminal Justice Sciences alumnus, who worked as a police officer with the Wood Dale Police Department. Vitucci died in an automobile accident in the fall of 1992.
Nardulli, a criminal justice sciences major, is the 16th student to receive the Vitucci Memorial Schlolarship. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma criminal justice sciences honor society and serves as a webmaster, helps with internship fairs, Special Olympic fundraisers, raffle fundraisers, and is involved in a secret Santa program for underprivileged children. He is also captain of an intramural men’s softball team and a founding member and lead singer of the rock band “The Last Pair.” Nardulli plans to pursue a Master’s degree in criminal justice, and then work for a federal agency.
The $1,000 Vitucci Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a criminal justice sciences major who has completed his or her junior year with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipient must have the intent to work in the criminal justice field as well as possess high moral values and integrity, demonstrate leadership qualities, and be involved in activities of the Department of Criminal Justice Sciences and/or the University.
