Illinois State University faculty and students were recognized at the annual Student Involvement Recognition Ceremony.
Tom Gerschick, Sociology and Anthropology associate professor, received the Registered Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award for contributing his time, energy and dedication to a registered student organization at Illinois State University.
Freshman Richard Dembinski of Des Plaines received the Outstanding Non-Traditional Student Leader of the Year for his commitment to improve the quality of life at Illinois State University through demonstrated involvement in a residence life program, a student organization, community service or other areas of campus.
Freshman Julie Herold of Naperville received the Steve Carroll First-Year Student Involvement Award for a first year student who becomes an active member of the campus community while maintaining good academic standing.
Senior Jon Kindseth of Bloomington-Normal received the Outstanding Student Leader Award for the student who provides outstanding contributions to the Illinois State community via leadership and excellence through their service and dedication to the student body.
Graduate student Barry Tolchin of Lockport is the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Leader of the Year who exemplifies leadership and excellence through their service and dedication to the unique needs and concerns of the graduate students.
