Illinois State University’s Red Tassel chapter of the national honor society, Mortar Board, recently inducted 26 new Illinois State University students as members. Members will be acknowledged as a group at their graduation ceremonies.
Membership is based on scholarship and service as well as leadership positions in activities such as Habitat for Humanity and Easter Seals. Well-known persons such as Barbara Bush, Rosalind and Jimmy Carter and Hillary Clinton all belong to Mortar Board. According to faculty advisors, Shawn Hitchcock, Richard Nagorski, Ann Triphan and Pamela Cooper, the Illinois State Red Tassel/Mortar Board society hosted a “Rock Out for Special Olympics” fundraising event this semester.
