Operetta "The Merry Widow" Opens in CPA Theatre April 4

Illinois State University’s School of Theatre and School of Music will present Franz Lehar’s comic operetta “The Merry Widow” opening at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the Center for the Performing Arts Theatre. 

Based on the Henri Meilhac comedy, “L'Attaché d'Ambassade,” “The Merry Widow” mixes jealousy, passion, mistaken identities, and love, all set against the decadence of Paris.  Marian Hampton, Theatre, is the director, and Karyl Carlson, Music, is the musical director.

Tickets are $15 for the general public, $13 for ISU faculty-staff, $12 for seniors and $10 for students.  Tickets are available at the CPA box office from noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and for one hour prior to each performance.  The box office phone number is (309) 438-2535.  Tickets also can be purchased online at www.illinoisstate.edu/finearts          

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, April 6.
