The play is NOT Shakespeare's take on "West Side Story." It is the
timeless and beloved "Romeo and Juliet," the story of star-crossed young
lovers from violently feuding families who meet tragic and untimely ends,
and it will open Friday, Oct. 6, in the Center for the Performing Arts
Theatre at Illinois State University.
"Romeo and Juliet" will continue on Oct. 7 and Oct. 11 to 14 with 7:30 p.m. performances, plus a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Oct. 8. Tickets are available at the CPA box office from noon to 5 p.m. or by calling (309) 438-2535. Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for ISU faculty-staff, $9 for senior citizens and $8 for students.
The play will be directed by master of fine arts candidate Kathleen Maki.
Coincidentally, the award-winning "West Side Story," based on Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," will be the spring musical presented by the School of Music and School of Theatre. It will be presented April 5 to 15.
