Illinois State University's Hibbert R. Roberts Lecture in Public
Policy will be delivered this year by Dr. Nakhle Bishara. "The Middle East
and the West: Is There Room for Accommodation?" will take place on Tuesday,
Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Old Main Room. The lecture is
free and open to the public.
Dr. Bishara received his M.D. from the Hadassah Medical School at Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1973, specializing in internal medicine. A physician at Nazareth Hospital, his family has lived in Nazareth for nine generations.
Hibbert R. Roberts was chair of the Department of Political Science at Illinois State University for 22 years. The lecture series was established by his family and friends to honor Roberts, who was mentor, colleague, advocate and friend to faculty and students alike.
"Dr. Roberts was a special person to me. He cared about justice and peace dearly," said Jamal Nassar, chair of the Department of Politics and Government. "Dr. Bishara will have a fitting lecture that will espouse justice and peace as well."
