Pianist R. Kent Cook will present a guest recital of Claude
Debussy's complete Preludes for solo piano at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in
the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall at Illinois State
University.
Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty-staff and $4 for students and senior citizens. The CPA box office is open noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and for one hour prior to the recital.
An associate professor at Illinois Wesleyan University since 1999, Cook keeps an active performing schedule as soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared in many venues around the United States and abroad with performances in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, England, France and Italy. He most recently has performed in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio.
A native of Odessa, Texas, Cook holds master's and doctoral degrees in Music from Indiana University. He also studied as a Fulbright Scholar at the Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt, Germany. Cook released his first compact disc, "Nachtstücke," in 2002 on the Novitas label, which featured 12 nocturnes by seven composers including Chopin, Liszt and Schumann.
