Six bands will compete and Illinois State University's student
Homecoming Court will be presented at a Battle of the Bands competition
beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Brown Ballroom of Bone
Student Center.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by the Redbird Entertainment Committee, the Battle of the Bands will include The Blu-Print Band, The Charter North, Steal The Spotlight, Gunslinger's Dream and The Run Around. The JC Divas are also set to perform. The University Program Board's Redbird Spirit Committee will reintroduce the Homecoming Court, which will have been announced earlier in the week. Refreshments will also be available.
Four judges will judge the competition, and audience vote will be counted as a fifth vote. The judges include University Program Board president Becky Hughes, WZND rock program director Lauren Colvin, Student Government Associate vice-president Brad Kaufmann and a representative from Homecoming Court. The winning band will receive $100 and an opening spot for Mike and Joe's performance on Friday, Oct. 13. The second place band will receive $75 and the third place band will receive $50.
