A choral concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in the Center for the
Performing Arts Concert Hall at Illinois State University will feature
several choral groups in the School of Music.
Admission is $6 for the general public, $5 for faculty-staff and $4 for students and senior citizens.
This concert will include performances by the Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and Belle Voix, all of which are conducted by Associate Professor Karyl Carlson, and the Early Music Ensemble conducted Professor Paul Borg.
The Concert Choir will perform several pieces showcased at the IMEA (Illinois Music Educators Association) Conference, as well as music by Stephen Paulus titled “Meditations by Li Po.” The composition is characterized by rich harmony supporting the insightful poetry.
Madrigal Singers will perform “The Herrick Songs,” poetry by Robert Herrick, set by Ken Neufeld. Belle Voix will sing a variety of music by Francesca Caccini, Guiseppe Verdi, Umberto Giordano and contemporary composer Gwyneth Walker.
