The second concert in the annual Concerts on the Quad series at Illinois
State University will feature chamber music performed by four School of
Music faculty members. The concert begins at 7 p.m. on the east side of Cook
Hall on the quad.
Violinist Sarah Gentry, violist and pianist Karen Collier, cellist Amy Flores and guitarist Angelo Favis (who also is the concert coordinator) will present a varied chamber program.
Concerts on the quad are free and open to the public and are presented in conjunction with the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. In case of rain, concerts will be moved across the quad to the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
At 7 pm. On July 17, the Madison-based Celtic group, StoneRing, will perform its dance music and songs. The four-member group plays traditional Celtic music on acoustic instruments, featuring a huge repertoire of Irish and Scottish ballads, war songs, rebel songs and drinking songs.
The ninth annual Jazz Festival will take place at 7 p.m. on July 24, presented by the ISU Faculty Jazz Quartet. Faculty singers and guest artists will close out the summer series at 7 p.m. July 31 with Singing Under the Stars, performing favorites from the operatic and Broadway stages.
Site changes due to the weather will be announced on radio stations WGLT (89.1 FM), WBNQ (101.5 FM) and WJBC (1230 AM) after 5 p.m. on concert days.
