Richard D. Finch, professor in the School of Art at Illinois State University, is one of 54 national artists included in a curated exhibition at 33 Collective Gallery, a Chicago art gallery.
The gallery, located in the Zhou B. Center in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, is presenting "The Transferred Image, a Printmaking Exhibition" from July 21 to Aug. 4. The exhibition is devoted to the art of printmaking and includes artists working in traditional and experimental printmaking techniques.
33 Collective Gallery is an artist-owned and operated Chicago gallery that focuses on emerging and established contemporary artists. It is located at 1029 W. 35th St., and open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and by appointment.
Finch begins his 30th year on the Art faculty. He is director of the Normal Editions Workshop (NEW), which will celebrate its 30th year in 2006-2007. NEW is a professional contract and publishing print workshop in Illinois State's Center for the Visual Arts which provides students with opportunities to expand their skills in printmaking through collaborative projects with visiting artists and the production of limited edition prints.
Finch received his master of fine arts and bachelor's degrees from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, and taught at Louisiana State University.
