Illinois State University's Board of Trustees today received the
FY2006 Performance Report, an informational report presenting a snapshot of
Illinois State accomplishments.
The Illinois Board of Higher Education requires all colleges and universities to report on how they contribute to the state's higher education policy priorities, including economic growth, P-20 partnerships, affordability, access and diversity, high quality and accountability and affordability.
Noted Illinois State accomplishments include:
. Inclusion in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine as one of the 100 best values in public colleges and universities in the country
. Recognition for WGLT by the Radio Television News Directors Association with three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for broadcast excellence and by the Associated Press for journalistic excellence
. Recognition for the Department of Physics and Rainer Grobe and Q. Charles Su by the American Physical Society with the national 2006 Undergraduate Research Prize
. Award of a Guggenheim Fellowship for Jin Lee, an Art faculty member
. Recognition of the Sociology faculty in the top 20 for teaching scholarship productivity and top 10 for citation impact of their work
. Award of the inaugural Walter Cronkite Civil Engagement Leadership Award to the School of Communication and the University
. Acquisition of a $5.9 million trust to create the Genevieve Green
Gardens at Ewing Cultural Center
. Securing of $20.4 million in external grants and contracts
. Award of the Green Government Award from the Illinois Green Government Coordinating Council in recognition of campus environmental achievements in energy efficiency and general achievements
"Illinois State University has received national, state and regional recognition for its outstanding programs and faculty and staff," said Debra Smitley, assistant vice president for Finance and Planning. "It was easy to choose some major milestones to highlight for the FY2006 Performance Report, but I wish we could have included the innumerable accomplishments of every department, school and unit."
