Illinois State University's Board of Trustees today approved the
academic plan, Foundation master contract, 2007 meeting calendar and sports
supply contract and authorized the negotiation and finalization of an
electrical service contract.
Each year the Board of Trustees approves the academic plan, which includes the University mission statement, Board of Trustees vision statement, college mission statements and objectives, curriculum initiatives and summaries for the previous academic year program reviews. Some of the curriculum initiatives include the feasibility of a B.S. in enterprising computing, executive MBA, Ph.D. in information systems, Ph.D. in foreign language pedagogy, Ph.D. in nursing and a Ph.D. in global politics as well as preliminary development by Milner Library of a school media program.
The Board formed a partnership with four other Illinois public universities to request electrical service proposals. The schools were Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois University and Western Illinois University. Two venders were identified as most closely meeting the universities' requirements, and the Board today authorized University administration to negotiate with each of the final vendors for a multi-year contract. Negotiations will include a pricing structure, risk management plan, account management process, term of contract and savings opportunities that will result in a contract to be approved by the Multi-University Utility Team. Each university will have a separate contract with the awarded supplier.
The Board approved the yearly master contract with the Illinois State University Foundation, which assists in soliciting and administering gifts to the University. In FY2006, the Foundation allocated more than $6 million in direct support, scholarships and awards on behalf of the University. The contract for FY2007 is $260,000.
Meeting dates for the Board for 2007 were approved and included Feb. 16, May 11, July 27, Oct. 26 and Nov. 8-9.
The Board approved a five-year agreement with Nike, Inc., for $1.25 million for Athletics to purchase footwear, equipment, apparel and uniforms. Choosing one vendor for the majority of purchases will reduce purchasing time and paperwork as well as costs and will allow for a more consistent look for all athletic teams.
