An earlier ticket release date has been announced for the Nov. 10 concert by B.B. King at Illinois State University's Braden Auditorium. Although all the other Stars on Stage series tickets will be on sale to the public beginning Monday, Aug. 21, the B.B. King tickets will be sold beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at the box office in Bone Student Center, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at (309) 438-5444 and (309) 676-8700.
Reserved seats for B.B. King, "King of the Blues," are $67.50, $47.50, and $37.50. Additional fees and charges may apply. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
The rest of Braden's Stars on Stage series includes the musical "Hairspray" at 3 and 8 p.m. Oct. 1, Marvin Hamlisch and Joel Grey at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22, "Rites and Rituals" by Circus Nexus at 8 p.m. Nov. 11, Jim Brickman Holiday Show at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and the State Ballet Theatre of Russia's "Cinderella" at 7 p.m. Feb. 11, 2007.
Mississippi-born Riley B. King has defined the blues for a worldwide audience. He began recording in the 1940's and has released over 50 albums, many which are classics. King, who will be 81 years old on Sept. 16, continues to be light on his feet, singing and playing the blues with relentless passion. His latest release, "80" was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Traditional Blues Album. The album brought King together with Eric Clapton, Elton John and others for a new duets album of blues standards to celebrate the King's 80th birthday.
In addition to his musical accomplishments, King has received numerous honors, including fourteen Grammy Awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Blues Hall of Fame.
