WGLT, Illinois State University's National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate station, is one of 12 stations chosen to participate in a pilot program to enhance the presentation of local news and programming during NPR's flagship Morning Edition news program.

WGLT is the only smaller market station taking part in the one-day "Morning Edition Grad School" workshop, which will be held in Atlanta on August 25. The workshop will focus on best practices in local news presentation, underwriting and promotions. The workshop is aimed at helping stations make the most of the local news and programming portions of Morning Edition and plans are underway to expand the workshop offerings to NPR affiliate stations across the country.

WGLT News Director Willis Kern, Program Director Mike McCurdy and Morning Edition local host Jim Browne will attend the "Morning Edition Grad School" workshop. The workshop is presented by the Public Radio Program Directors (PRPD) organization and the consulting firm Strategic Programming Partners (SPP), which works with public radio stations across the nation.
