Illinois State University's Madrigal Singers will be among some of
the state's showcase talent during a Chicago event called Great Performers
of Illinois, a live four-day celebration of the vast talent among Illinois'
performing artists.
Sponsored by the Illinois Arts Council and several state and Chicago agencies, Great Performers of Illinois will take place Sept. 6 to 9 in Millennium Park. The first-ever event celebrates musical acts from throughout Illinois plus participatory events including square dancing and storytelling, regional foods and wines and visitor information for Illinois destinations.
The Madrigal Singers, directed by School of Music Associate Professor Karyl Carlson, will perform from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Members of the group are Jamie Szynal of Burr Ridge, Katie Strosahl-Johnson of Aurora, Michael Brown of Sterling, Christina Bueno of Edwardsville, Emily Marcantonio of Normal, Chris Faye of Crystal Lake, John Todd from Wayne, Ind., and Luis Romero of Ellensburg, Wash.
Admission to the event is free.
