Illinois State University's Center for Reading and Literacy will
host a policy forum on literacy teaching and learning on Friday, Sept. 8,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. The policy
forum date coincides with International Literacy Day.
The forum, a new biennial series, will bring together politicians, state government officials, teachers, administrators, business representatives, university researchers and other stakeholders to examine the state of literacy teaching and learning in Illinois schools under the No Child Left Behind initiative. Participants will also share ideas on how the state's universities can work with legislative representatives and agencies to better support literacy teaching and learning.
For more information on the forum contact Beatrice Smith, director of the Center for Reading and Literacy, at (309) 438-3008.
