Illinois State Actuarial Students Receive State Farm Scholarships

Illinois State University students will be recognized with actuarial scholarships at a ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in 401 Stevenson Hall.

The State Farm Scholars in Actuarial Science, funded by the State Farm Foundation, are for students with a grade point average of 3.5 overall and 3.7 in the major and who place in the top 20 percent overall and top 5 percent in mathematics in national standardized tests.

Students receiving the awards will be Nicholas Hagan, a freshman from Decatur, Jeremy Harlow, a junior from Monmouth, Thomas Lauren, a freshman from Mundelein, Brittany Minkler, a sophomore from Pontiac, Shawn O'Kelley, a senior from Elgin, Christine Pflueger, a freshman from Red Bud, David Prevo, a sophomore from Gridley, Laura Sudholt, a senior from Breese, Patrick Tullock, a freshman from Robinson; T.J. Turner, a senior from Bloomington; Rebecca Weinshenker, a senior from Joliet, Gary Wierzbicki, a junior from Naperville, and Jordan Wiley, a freshman from Morton.

Mary Risius, a senior from Normal received the State Farm Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Actuarial Science.

The ceremony will also recognize Andrew Patton, a freshman from Springfield, as the Orlyn Edge Scholarship recipient.
