Restorative Care Subject Of Presentation, April 12

“Restorative Care: Making It Happen In Long-Term Care” will be the subject of a presentation by nursing educator and author Barbara Resnick, on Thursday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Old Main Room of Illinois State University’s Bone Student Center. A reception will precede the presentation at 4:30 p.m.

Resnick, the author of Restorative Care Nursing in all Settings, is a professor at the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. She also maintains a clinical/faculty position as a geriatric nurse practitioner at a community setting for older adults. Her research focuses on care for older adults, including health promotion and motivation related to functional performance and exercise activities.

Resnick’s presentation is free, but those wishing to attend are asked to reserve a space by calling Charlene Aaron in Illinois State’s Mennonite College of Nursing at (309) 438-7116. During her visit to campus, Resnick will conduct workshops on grant writing, writing for publication, and enhancing aging in the curriculum for faculty members in Mennonite College of Nursing. She will also visit local nursing care facilities to share information on restorative care practices.

Resnick’s presentation is a national speaker event sponsored by Mennonite’s Expanding Teaching Nursing Home Project and Collaborative Doctoral Program, the Xi Pi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International nursing honor society and the Mennonite Alumni Association. The event is funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
