A group of Illinois State University students will be serving food
and raising funds for an area project that assists families of deployed
military personnel. The charity barbeque event will take place at VFW Post
454 at 1006 E. Lincoln St. in Bloomington, from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, April
28.
Barbeque pork sandwiches, chicken and side dishes will be served for $5 per plate. All proceeds will benefit Operation Porchlight.
As part of a community outreach project, students in an Illinois State School of Communication class will take part in the event, sponsored by the United Way of McLean County. Students in COM 223 will help serve food, while catering for the event will be provided by the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and Farm House fraternity.
