Mark your calendars! The annual Friends of the Fell Arboretum plant
sale will be held on Friday, May 4, from 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, May 5,
starting at 8 a.m. and running until all the plants are sold (which usually
does not take long). The sale gets bigger every year and the early shopper
gets the best plants!
The sale will take place behind Illinois State University’s Science Laboratory Building greenhouse at the corner of Fell Ave. and North St. in Normal.
The sale will feature a wide variety of plants, such as native prairie grasses, forbs and woodland wildflowers, which are not normally found in garden centers. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Friends of the Fell Arboretum.
Illinois State horticulturist Don Schmidt will lead three tree walks around the University Quad this spring. The tree walks will be held on Friday April 27, starting at 4:30 p.m., Sunday April 29 at 1 p.m., and Saturday May 5 at 1p.m. All tree walks will begin at the Sassafras Grove seating area on the Quad, located just west of Hovey Hall. The tree walks are free and open to the public.
