Construction is well underway for the renovation of Stevenson and Turner. The electrical contractor, Illinois Prairie Electric, started to bury the electric lines for the Mobile Faculty Office Building (MFOB), located on Normal Avenue, on Thursday, May 28. In order to install the temporary office building, 40 spots in the parking lot north of the Student Bone Center will be blocked off.
The Capital Development Board approved Illinois State University granting the window replacement contract to East Moline Glass. A member of Clark Dietz Engineers worked with East Moline Glass on shop drawings, a work schedule and the overall approach for the window installment. The schedule for the installment will be released in the near future. The estimated arrival for the new windows is mid-August.
The abatement crew in Stevenson is moving to Turner to remove the asbestos while the restroom remodel on the first two floors of Stevenson is completed. When the restrooms are finished on the first two floors, the abatement crew will return to the fourth floor of Stevenson Hall to complete the asbestos removal. Relocating the crew while the restrooms are finished in Stevenson will allow a month advantage in the Turner Hall completion schedule, which is currently set for July 2010. This gives more flexibility in meeting the overall completion date.
